Wednesday, June 9, 2010 Join hundreds of union members, labor allies and community activists at DC Jobs with Justice’s 8th annual “I’ll Be There” awards this Thursday, 5:30P at the AFL-CIO. The ceremony - which will feature singer-song writer and Wammie award winner Lilo Gonzalez, along with internationally renowned DC hip-hop artist Head-Roc - honors individuals and organizations for exceptional solidarity work in the Metro DC area. Awardees include former American Rights at Work Director Mary Beth Maxwell, ACLU Executive Director Johnny Barnes, the Justice at Wings campaign and the Fair Budget Coalition's Kristi Matthews. The event begins 5:30P this Thursday at the AFL-CIO; light fare and drinks will be served. Suggested donations are $25-50. Proceeds from the event will help support DC JwJ’s work.
